Title: Fantastic Family Stay
For families with kids, my wife says that it would have been helpful to have a small play area or a kid's corner in the hotel.

A charming and cozy guesthouse
I absolutely loved how the walls were so thin that I could hear every single word my fellow guests were saying at night. Such a delightful experience!

the stay at himawari shijo kawaramachi was beyond amazing. from the attentive host to the perfect location, everything exceeded my expectations. the house was flawlessly clean and beautifully decorated, making it feel like a home away from home. absolutely one of the best lodging experiences in kyoto!

As backpackers, we loved the friendly and helpful staff, especially Judy who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. the rooms were clean, traditional, and had all the amenities we needed. the free laundry service was a bonus. the location was a bit far from the station, but the nearby cool areas and easily accessible buses and subway made up for it.
Felt very cared for, no complaints.

We had an incredible stay at the Himawari Shijo Kawaramachi in Kyoto. The traditional Japanese house had a Meiji Era charm and the location was fantastic. The Japanese bathtub was perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. The entire place was spotless and the free snack bar was a nice touch. Despite the traffic noise, we still found the experience authentic and enjoyable. we highly recommend this hotel.

The guesthouse is conveniently located and has a charming garden. The free breakfast is a nice touch, but beware of fighting over the last croissant with the other guests.
It can get a bit noisy with all those people enjoying themselves. How dare they have fun at a guesthouse!

The hotel is located in a very nice neighborhood, close to the shopping street and in a relatively quiet residential area. the room is very clean and comfortable, with great facilities like a permanent snack bar in the kitchen and a room cleaning service everyday.
The futons in the room are quite thin and might not be comfortable for those who prefer a softer bed.

Clean and beautiful traditional Japanese accommodations in a quiet area. Great location - only a 5-minute walk from the center. The manager/owner - Judy - is very welcoming and provided local insights. Appreciated the free laundry service offered for longer stays.
Would be happy to recommend.

So fancy, with a microwave in the common area! The garden was just delightful, and the free breakfast was oh-so satisfying. Cultural highlights nearby, what a treat!
I absolutely adored the thin walls. The constant background noise made my stay oh-so peaceful.

Nothing, all great.

This place is absolutely incredible! the historical atmosphere and traditional Japanese accommodations make you feel like you're stepping back in time. the hostess, Judy, is amazing - she was so warm and welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. the location couldn't be better, with the main streets, historical district, and Nishiki market all just a stone's throw away. And despite being in the heart of the city, it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. Plus, the shared bathrooms were never an issue for us, as we woke up early and never had to wait.
That the walls were quite thin, so when other guests were noisy, it could be a bit annoying. But this is more about the other guests than the hotel itself.
